High-wire stuntman Nik Wallenda to perform at St. Armands Friday

Nik "King of the High Wire" Wallenda will be at it again Friday. The daredevil aerialist will perform a death-defying stunt with his wife, Erendira, 75 feet above St. Armands Circle at 6 p.m. tomorrow. The couple will be on two slender sway-poles performing acrobatics, a mid-air "exchange" and then a free-fall to the ground - head first.

Wallenda comes from a long line of aerial daredevils. He helped kicked off Circus Sarasota's season earlier this year with a high-wire walk between the Ritz Carlton Hotel and One Watergate Condominium.

Tomorrow's stunt will be for a TV special featured on the Discovery Channel. After the performance, the Wallendas will sign autographs for donations as a way to raise funds for All Children's Hospital. If weather is bad, the rain day for the event will be 6 p.m. Saturday.
